Larry Wayne Morgan was born November 1, 1946, in Prentiss County, Mississippi. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Morgan. He has been married for over 30 years to the former Joyce Caldwell. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle.

Brother Morgan is a 1964 graduate of Booneville High School. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and received his B.S. Degree in mathematics and his Master's Degree in school administration from Mississippi State University. In 1978, he received his AAA certification in mathematics.

Since 1968, Brother Morgan began his teaching career at Booneville High School where he served as a math teacher, assistant principal and bus driver during his twelve years there. He quickly earned the respect of the student body and his fellow educators. This was demonstrated when he was recognized as Booneville High School's Teacher of the Year in 1970 and Star teacher in 1970, 1972 and 1980.

In 1971, he received the BHS yearbook dedication and also was named Prentiss County's Outstanding Educator. In the late 1970's, Brother Morgan organized a Drug Awareness Program for the students. Before he resigned his position at BHS, he was presented an award for outstanding service to Booneville High School from the 1980 faculty.

Brother Morgan served as principal from 1980 until 1988 at New Site High School, then joined the mathematics department at Northeast Community College, where he remained for seven years. In January 1997, he was named Superintendent of the Booneville School District and led the district to a Level 5 Accreditation rating, the highest rating a school district can obtain in this state.

Brother Morgan serves both as a deacon and Education Director as well as a sunday school teacher for the high school class, and as an advisor for our Bible Trivia team. He meets with our teenagers once a month for fellowships and devotionals. He organized a weekend youth rally which approximately 700 young people attend from Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Brother Morgan organized the annual banquet for the juniors and seniors in all Prentiss County churches of Christ.

Brother Morgan is a member of the Booneville Jaycees, where he served as vice-president. He is a former director of the Prentiss County Development Association, past president of the Prentiss County Association of Educators and the Northeast Mississippi Community College Association. He is a board member of Project Homestead, an organization which raises funds to help needy families in Prentiss County.

In 1999 our own Brother Larry Morgan was selected at the 21st Annual Charity Dinner as PRENTISS COUNTY'S OUTSTANDING CITIZEN. Former student and local attorney Ronald Michael stated," I truly believe that God gives people certain talents and gifts in which to make a difference in the lives of other people. God gave Mr. Morgan the gift to teach, encourage, and most of all to love the children with whom he has been associated."

The characteristics he demonstrates as a Christian gentleman and a wise, intellectual scholar will continue to provide a role model for all youth and adults he encounters.
